The unassuming Marylebone Farmers’ Market is one of the best places in Central London to source proper organic food coming straight from farms outside of London. Here are some of our personal favourites after countless visits to the market through the years.
I love visiting the Marylebone Farmers’ Market on Sundays. It’s a small but lovely market that offers a variety of fresh and local products, from cheese and bread to fruits and vegetables.
The market features over 40 stalls selling everything from fruits and vegetables, to meat and cheese, to bread and cakes, to honey and jams, to flowers and plants. You can also find some specialty items such as wild game, smoked fish, artisan chocolates, organic wines and more. The vendors are friendly and knowledgeable, and they are happy to share their stories and tips on how to use their products.
I always enjoy browsing the stalls and chatting with the friendly vendors, who are passionate about their produce. One of my favourite stalls is the Potato Shop, which sells different types of potatoes, including some rare varieties. I like to buy some purple potatoes and make a colourful mash for dinner.
Another stall that I never miss is the Bread and Macaroon, which has the most delicious croissants and macarons in London. I always treat myself to a chocolate croissant and a pistachio macaron for dessert. The market is also a great place to find some exotic and unusual foods, such as biltong, vermouth and roti.
I like to try something new every time I go there, and I’m always pleasantly surprised by the flavours and textures. The market is located in the Cramer Street Car Park, near the beautiful Paddington Gardens. It’s open from 10 am to 2 pm, rain or shine.
The Marylebone Farmers’ Market is a great place to spend a Sunday morning, whether you are looking for a quick bite, a full grocery shop, or just a stroll around. You will not only find delicious food, but also a sense of community and connection with the people who grow and make it. It is a true local gem in London that I highly recommend.
Delicious highlights at Marylebone Farmers’ Market
- Oysters from Norfolk
- Edwin’s organic farm produce
- Free-range sausages from The Parsons Nose
- Organic vegetables and fruit from Manor Farm
- Strawberries and Asparagus when in season
- Wander through the charming shops of Marylebone Village, which include, among other things, my favourite foodie delights of The Ginger Pig, La Fromagerie, and Rocco Chocolates.
We recommend trying out some of the delicious pastries like pear almond caramel cake from Honeypie Bakery, or a mushroom sandwich from The Mushroom Table. Or what about oysters from breakfast from Norfolk based Longshore?
Regent’s Park is not far away, and if you take food from the market to do a picnic we recommend Queen Mary’s Rose Garden which is such a lush tranquil place with lots of space for kids to run around.
