We created a map of London’s city farms and reviewed them one by one (see below) to make it easy for you to explore them. As a family passionate about being outdoors, we think these urban farms represent a really important part of London’s fabric. Largely run by volunteers as charities, the city farms are playing an amazingly influential part in local communities all across London.
City farms in a green capital
Farm animals are not the first thing you think of when it comes to big city life in London. Which is why we think more people should be aware of the slices of countryside you can find deep inside urban London. There are as many as 20 city farms and zoos dotted across the city, so plenty of chances to plan a day away from the hustle and bustle. Actually, did you know that London is one of the greenest capitals in the world? More than 40% of London is made of public green space including 3,000 parks totally 35,000 acres. It’s totally possible to plan for an active day out in London letting kids explore and roam around unconfined surrounded by nature and rural life.
Reviewing London’s farms
All our reviews are based on our hands-on experience as a London family, always honest and never paid for unless very clearly stated. We don’t expect everyone to agree on our reflections, but we very much welcome feedback in the comments or through the contact page.
