Crystal Palace Farm is located in Crystal Palace Park and is run by Capel Manor College. It’s not the biggest of London’s city farms, but it’s a very charming one! The area around the farm is also very child-friendly featuring a dinosaur park, large play area with a sandpit and a boating lake.
Animals in Crystal Palace Farm
In the farm, you will find the usual farm animals, such as pigs, sheep and goats, as well as furry friends like rabbits. Surprisingly, you can also see some exotic animals like meerkats, lizards and snakes which makes this London farm quite unusual. Having said that, it’s not a very large farm so if you are planning a full day with your children it makes sense to combine with at least one more activity.
Free of charge entry to the farm
Considering the fact that entry is free, I will not complain too much when it comes to the facilities not being top-notch. At the end of the day, the farm offers children to see a range of animals including meerkats and reptiles for free and has an excellent location within the park next to other free attractions. You can easily plan a really nice active outside day with the kids on a low budget by staying in the area.
Worth it if local
All in all, this is a lovely local farm to bring your children (especially the smallest ones) to see a small selection of animals and how they feed. There are friendly and helpful volunteers always around. Toilet and hand-washing facilities are available and accessible for all, but not always the cleanest and the buildings could use a lick of paint. Well worth a visit if you’re local, but probably not worth a day trip travelling far to only see the farm on its own.
