Kidspace in Romford is frequently featured among the top indoor playgrounds in London. But is it really worth it? As a family of 5, we ventured to Romford to check what the hype is all about.
All the bells and whistles
Kidspace Romford features a massive soft-play climbing frame, large slides, a climbing wall, Go-Kart, a baby-sensing area, an incredible interactive Oceanarium, and many other unique things to play with. What’s not to like about this!?
There’s also plenty of space for parents to sit back and relax with a coffee at a distance while at the same time keeping an eye on the kids. But be warned: The 2-hour time slot goes very fast, so make sure to hurdle your kids along, so they can experience all the activities Kidspace has to offer.

Massive climbing frame
The big highlight is the massive soft play climbing frame which covers several floors and offers kids of all abilities enough challenges to keep them entertained for a long time. Various interactive elements like softball cannons add to the fun and encourage kids to play together nicely. In addition, you’ll find a range of different slides, tunnels and vertical mazes. Are you worried about your kids getting stuck somewhere in the soft play frame? A really good thing about Kidspace is that you, as parents (and kids), have a full overview at all times, so if your kids need help, you’ll be able to spot them very quickly.
Go-Kart and climbing wall
Go-Kart and the Climbing Wall are included in the standard ticket price, and our kids were excited about both experiences. Our 4-year-old wished the Go-Kart session could last a little bit longer, but on the positive side, we didn’t have to line up for a long queue. The Climbing session was well organised with a focus on safety. Staff are at hand to guide and help beginners, and our 8-year-old daughter had a great time in particular.
What about babies and toddlers?
If you’re looking for a fun and interactive area to take your toddler to in London, Kidspace is a great option. Not only will you find a gated area where older kids are not allowed to enter, but you’ll also find a separate sensing area with a giant sandbox and interactive digital aquarium. This contrasts with regular soft-plays in London, where you’ll typically find a small corner reserved for babies and toddlers with no separation from older kids.
Lunch options at Kidspace Romford
We didn’t have too high expectations of the cafe, but the food options are actually very good. The menu includes kids’ favourites like pizza and hamburgers, with some healthier options like jacket-potato, our favourite. Remember that the time you spend having lunch is included in your 2-hour time slot. Luckily they serve the food really fast, and it’s nice for the kids to have a short break halfway through.
