Route Description:
One of London’s most scenic and enjoyable cycle routes is the one from Hampton Court Palace to Richmond upon Thames. It is about 8 miles long and follows the River Thames most of the way. You can admire the historic palace, the beautiful gardens, the wildlife and the boats along the river. The route is mostly flat and traffic-free, making it ideal for families with children. You can start at Hampton Court station or park your car at the palace car park.
Then follow the signs for National Cycle Route 4, which will take you along the river path. You will pass through Kingston upon Thames, Teddington Lock and Ham House before reaching Richmond. There are plenty of places to stop for a picnic, a drink or a visit along the way. You can also extend your ride by continuing to Kew Gardens or Twickenham. This cycle route is a great way to explore some of the most charming and historic parts of London on two wheels.
