Vauxhall City Farm is one of London’s most popular farms with its central location close to Vauxhall Bridge and station. Child-friendly animals

An urban farm is a great way to unwind, and at Vauxhall farm, you can enjoy a wide range of friendly animals including rare breed sheep and chickens. The goats on the farm are quite cheeky, quick as they are to jump on the fences ready for a few handfuls of feed from the many visitors. You should also try to get a selfie with one of the funny woolly alpacas on the farms, but don’t count on the following directions. Then there are the spotty pigs, cuddly ferrets, guinea pigs and many more animals to enjoy.

In addition to visiting the farm, you can also take part in the many activities on the farm. There are support programs for children, young people and adults from the local community, many with disadvantaged backgrounds or have disabilities. There is a therapy riding centre offering riding lessons for people with disabilities, while kids can “own a pony” during school holidays as part of learning how to take care of farm animals. A project involving local schools and nurseries give them the opportunity to watch chicks hatch in their classrooms.

Farm cafe and shop

There is also a nice little cafe on the premises, “The Old Dairy Cafe” that offers £2.50 child’s lunches of egg or beans on toast and other tasty treats. The cafe is staffed by adults with learning or other disabilities and is very popular with local families during weekends. In the local farm shop, you can buy eggs and surplus produce from its allotments. Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens are just outside with plenty of space if you fancy a picnic.
